Police are appealing for information following the serious road traffic collision in Orkney last night.
The 57-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow after a collision with a car on the A967 in Orkney last night.
The incident involving a blue Vauxhall Vectra car and a male pedestrian and happened at approximately 7.30pm near Newburgh.
The road has remained closed for road policing officers to carry out an investigation at the scene. A local signposted diversion is in place and further updates will be provided in due course.
Road Policing Sergeant Gregor Hay said: “Our thoughts are with the injured man and his family at this time.
“Our inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of this collision.
“A number of witnesses have already been spoken to but I would ask that anybody who has information about this incident but has not yet spoken to officers makes contact as soon possible.”
