A scheme aimed at bringing students from different islands together is to take place in the latest venture from An Lanntair.
The Between Islands project is set to see students from the Outer Hebrides and the Northern Isles swap locations as part of the Year of the Young People celebrations.
Project Coordinator for An Lanntair, Alex Macdonald, said: “The beauty of all the Between Islands projects is that they encourage collaboration, and it would be wonderful to make these types of exchanges a natural part of what we all do, sharing knowledge, and encouraging our young creatives to work from their Island bases.”
Western Isles participants Kate MacLeod and Zoe MacInnes are set to spend a week in Shetland creating a short fiml as part of the project.
Bryan Peterson of Shetland Arts’ Creative Opportunities said: “Between Islands is an excellent project which has fostered strong cultural links between the islands groups, and we very much look forward to welcoming Kate and Zoe.”
Students Rebecca Baxter, Rhea Kay, Helen Laurenson and Megan Smith from Shetland are to visit the Isle of Harris to gain an insight into the world renowned Harris Tweed industry, with examples of both groups work set to be featured at the ‘Las! Ignite’ festival in October.
