A teenager who accidentally revealed ecstasy tablets to door staff when he was paying for entry into a Shetland club was yesterday fined £540.
John Summers, of Haldane Burgess Crescent, Lerwick, admitted at the town sheriff court to possessing the class A drug at the town’s Da Wheel Bar on October 14 last year.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the 18-year-old was found with two and a half tablets worth around £12.50.
Defence agent Gregor Kelly said it “must be some of the most amateur attempts” at drug handling as he nearly handed bouncers the tablets when paying in.
He added that his client had been drunk and had “accepted the tablets from others”.
