It happened close to the shore at Northton Temple at around 9.05pm yesterday. A coastguard spokesman said: “The person had fallen and broken their femur and had to be stretchered to safety. “A local doctor was called and the man was carried for around 40 minutes so they could get treatment.” Tarbert, Stornoway and Miavaig coastguard rescue teams were called to assist with the incident. The man was taken to hospital and the rescue teams stood down at 11.50pm.
