Scottish Water will host a consultation next week aimed at solidifying the ambitions for the future of the Orkney and Shetland water services.
The provider is seeking the opinions and proposals from islanders over their spending priorities for the next 25 years.
Scottish Water’s chief operating officer Peter Farrer said: “The islands are special places with distinctive needs and challenges so we want to make sure their voice is heard. Thousands of customers from all over Scotland have already helped us by engaging with the issues and giving us their views.
“To keep delivering a world-class water service, we must take a long-term view. It is essential that we seek to understand the likely future challenges and opportunities, making the right choices to support the needs of current and future customers.
“I would encourage any of our customers in Orkney and Shetland to come along to let us know their views. Anyone who can’t attend our roadshows can still take part online until 31 August.”
The consultation is set to take place in the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall between 1pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday July 11, with a further consultation taking place on Thursday July 12 in Lerwick at the Toll Clock Shopping Centre from 11am to 3pm.
Mr Farrer added: “The challenges and opportunities that we will experience in island and rural areas are different to urban Scotland, but our commitment to delivering the same high standard of service for a single, low price remains. We are ambitious to do more and to reach a level where our services are truly reliable and sustainable for future generations.”
