The search for a Moray man missing since Christmas Eve has been scaled back by police.

Alan Morrison, from Buckie, was last seen by family on December 24 and there have been no positive sightings of him since.

Extensive efforts have been made to trace the 47-year-old, with searches being focused mainly in the Buckie area.

Police officers are now scaling back their searches in the town after receiving no more information about where he may have travelled to.

CCTV images were previously released that showed Mr Morrison in the McColls store on St Andrews Square on the last day he was seen.

Mr Morrison is described as about 5ft 9ins, of medium build with short dark and grey receding hair and a beard.

He was believed to have been wearing dark Adidas Samba trainers, a long-sleeved dark T-shirt and a navy padded jacket.

Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “Extensive inquiries were carried out in the vicinity of Alan’s home at Lawson Place, with searches carried out by specialist teams focusing on the Burn of Buckie, the coastline and other routes he was known to walk. We have no information to suggest that Alan left the area and as more time passes we need to be realistic with the lack of new information available to us.

“Alan’s family is aware of our intentions and my thoughts are with them at this difficult time. Let me stress that an inquiry surrounding a missing person is never closed and we will continue to react on any new information we receive. It’s not too late to get in touch and I would encourage you to contact police on 101 if you think you can help.”
