Famous fiddler and friends confirm Music Hall line-up

A star-studded musical line-up in support of a renowned Scottish fiddler battling cancer has now been confirmed.

Paul Anderson, from Tarland, has organised a Scottish music variety show to raise funds for Friends of Anchor, the local charity which helped him fight against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The violin maestro has called in some of his famous friends to create a glittering all-star event which includes Elgin-born Kevin McKidd, star of Trainspotting and Grey’s Anatomy.

River City actor Iain Robertson and Capercaillie’s Karen Matheson will also be on stage at the city’s Music Hall on May 3.

Speaking of the event, Paul said: “I’ve had some great support from my friends and family and they were only too happy to get involved in this charity night. We’ve worked the Music Hall concert date around a rare return to Scotland by Kevin McKidd, who comes from Elgin.

“There have been a few changes to the line-up as filmmaker Richard Jobson can no longer attend and nor can Bruce MacGregor from Blazin’ Fiddles. However, we have the additions of amazing piper Ross Ainslie, Del Amitri guitarist Bryan Tolland and bothy ballad champions Joe Aitken and Allan Taylor.

“Music has been a great therapy for me during my illness, and the audience is assured of a great night with the line-up that’s coming together for this.”
