Aspiring young writers have been tasked with writing about how they could transform the world in a nationwide competition.
The annual Explore Learning Writers’ Awards are open for the 11th year and ask for children aged between four to 14 to pen a 500-word imaginative story.
The winner of the competition will be awarded with a surprise assembly at their school presented by best-selling author, singer and dancer Alesha Dixon, who is judging the contest. The champion will also win a trip to Disneyland Paris.
Alesha Dixon, who has written three children’s books, said: “I am really looking forward to reading all of the imaginative ways the children of this country would change the world in this year’s Explore Learning Writers’ Awards.
“Having written stories myself, I know how rewarding it is and really hope they will take as much pleasure from it as I have.’’
Every single child that enters will receive a certificate to celebrate their story, along with personalised feedback from one of Explore Learning’s inspirational tutors.
Charlotte Gater, Head of Curriculum at Explore Learning, said: “We are so excited to now be open for entries and can’t wait to read the incredible stories the children of the UK come up with.”
The competition runs until Sunday May 5 and children can enter visiting their local Explore Learning centre or entering online at explorelearning.co.uk/writersawards
