A casualty has been evacuated from a cargo vessel off the east coast of Shetland after suffering from a suspected heart attack.
A spokesman at Shetland’s Coastguard Operations Centre confirmed they were made aware of the incident at 11.2oam this morning, with the search and rescue helicopter from Sumburgh sent to assist the casualty.
The spokesman added: “We are currently assisting with a medevac from a cargo vessel where the casualty has suffered a suspected heart attack.
“The casualty has just been medevacked by Rescue 900 and will be taken on to hospital.”
The spokesman was unable to confirm which hospital the casualty would be taken to.
