Summer’s nearly here (although the weather sometimes makes us think otherwise!) so now’s the time to book that summer getaway.
With the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, a UK ‘stay-cation’ is becoming a more popular option and these coach trips down south offer a great way to see the UK in comfort and luxury.
Splendours of the South Downs
Worthing is a traditional seaside town with a twist. This is a place full of surprises – a wide open prom allows space to breathe, run, cycle; an endless horizon frames the beach; and, of course, the famous pier.
The Worthing of today is a happy collision of classic and contemporary.
The town also makes a perfect base from which to explore wider Sussex.
During the trip you will visit St Mary’s House & Gardens, an enchanting historic timber-framed house with magnificent five acre gardens, set in the picturesque village of Bramber.
You will also enjoy a journey on the Bluebell Railway, recreating the golden age of steam, with over 30 engines running on the 11 miles of beautiful Sussex Weald countryside. You will spend the afternoon at Borde Hill Gardens, a heritage garden renowned for its rare shrubs and champion trees, specimens accumulated by the great Victorian plant collectors.
The lovely market town of Lewes in the South Downs National Park, along with the Heritage Museum, will also be part of the trip.
The trip includes: Luxury coach travel, coffee on the first morning, accommodation outward and return at the Samelsbury Hotel (DBB), five nights’ DBB at the Chatsworth Hotel in Worthing, admission to St Mary’s House & Garden (including guided tour), a visit to Arundel & Lewis, a trip on the Bluebell Railway, admission to Borde Hill Gardens and a free day to explore Worthing & Brighton.
The trip leaves Aberdeen at 8.25am on Saturday, June 8, with prices from just £640.
Berkshire and Royal Windsor
Berkshire is one of the home counties in England and it was recognised by the Queen as the Royal County of Berkshire in 1957 because of Windsor Castle.
During your stay, you will visit the great Royal Palace of Windsor Castle, which dominates the skyline of this delightful, historic little town nestling on the banks of the Thames.
You will enjoy a cruise, allowing great views and photographic opportunities of the impressive castle. You will visit Henley-on-Thames, a beautiful market town steeped in history and tradition and home to the Henley Regatta.
In the afternoon you’ll take a journey into the past with the Kennet Horse Boat Company and enjoy a leisurely boat trip on one of England’s finest canals.
You will be staying at the four star Millennium Madejski Hotel. All rooms have en-suite facilities, hospitality tray, mini bar, colour TV with movie and satellite channels, direct dial telephone, radio, trouser press, ironing board and hairdryer. You can unwind in Le Club Health & Fitness, the hotel’s brand new leisure club.
The trip includes: Luxury coach travel, morning coffee on the first day, overnight accommodation outbound and return at the Hallmark Hotel in Leyland (DBB), four nights’ DBB at the Millennium Madejski Hotel, admission to Windsor Castle, French Brother cruise from Windsor, an excursion to Henley-on-Thames, a cruise on the Kennet & Avon canal and leisure time in Reading.
