A north-east university is making one of the growing jobs markets in the energy industry more accessible with scholarships.
The Robert Gordon University (RGU) Graduate Certificate In Petroleum Data Management course was the first of its kind in the world.
It was designed to meet the growing demand within the oil industry for production data management.
The syllabus was developed alongside the Oil and Gas UK subsidiary Common Data Access (CDA).
CDA has funded two scholarship opportunities for the industry-specific course.
Jo Royle, the head of RGU’s school of creative and cultural business, said: “The course aims to support the industry by providing it with a steady stream of qualified data managers with specific knowledge of the subsurface environment and it is fantastic that CDA is offering two full-funded scholarships to help support this.”
The latter’s executive director Daniel Brown added: “Data and digital technologies have never been more important to the oil and gas industry.
Through this course, energy data managers can build the foundation of critical skills to support and lead their companies in this innovative and rapidly evolving area.
“Good data management lies at the heart of good decision making.”
The Common Data Access Scholarships will be open to any student, worldwide, who has been accepted onto the course and who is in genuine financial need.
