Scotland’s most celebrated fiddle band, Blazin’ Fiddles, will join forces with leading Scottish folk vocalist Emily Smith to play Eden Court in Inverness next month.
Hot on the heels of the group’s 20th anniversary tour, which culminated with a Celtic Connections headline show in January, the prolific Scottish folk act have confirmed a series of performances throughout Scotland in the months ahead and will have support from special guest singer Emily Smith.
Blazin’ Fiddles will bring their distinctive and energy-packed show to Eden Court, Inverness on August 15, as part of a run of eight Scottish dates.
Fiddlers Jenna Reid, Bruce MacGregor, Rua Macmillan and Kristan Harvey will be joined by Anna Massie on guitar/fiddle and Angus Lyon on piano, drawing inspiration from their part of the Highlands and Islands to create a fiery blend of music.
Mr MacGregor, founder of Blazin’ Fiddles, said: “Reaching our milestone 20th birthday last year was a significant moment in the band’s history and reminded us of the spark and passion for Scottish fiddle music which gave birth to Blazin’ Fiddles back in 1998.
“We’re still driven by the same mission today: to ignite a passion and fire in our audiences with our music. We can’t wait to play to Inverness crowds in August and are honoured to have the talented vocalist Emily Smith for company in 2019.”
Ms Smith is a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene, who has entertained audiences all over the world with her blend of traditional and original songs, blurring the lines between old and new.
She has released eight studio albums and collaborated with many musical greats from the folk scene and beyond, including Barbara Dickson, Richard Thompson, Eddi Reader, Jerry Douglas and Beth Nielsen Chapman.
She said: “Blazin’ Fiddles are cherished by audiences across Scotland and I can’t wait to hit the road with this iconic folk band this year and set Eden Court alight.
“Together, we want to give gig-goers a musical treat and look forward to seeing as many fans come out as possible later this summer.”
