Norfolk company Proeon Systems has launched a base in Aberdeen as it targets business in the north-east.
Proeon, which designs, installs and commissions control and safety systems for the oil and gas industry, said the move into Europe’s energy capital was to support a growing customer base.
Set up in 2004, the Norwich-headquartered company has seen significant growth during the past year.
Annual turnover has rocketed by 50% to a record £1.5million-plus, much of it driven by work in the North Sea.
Staffing has also doubled to more than 20, with three more employees being sought over the coming months to support current work and the new base in the Granite City.
Co-founder and managing director Kevin Magee said: “We’re delighted to have finally developed a presence in Aberdeen.
“Many of our existing and target clients are based there and it makes sense for us to provide a local service to them.
“We’ve seen such strong growth over the past 12 months, especially in our range of fire and gas detection systems, which means we need to invest in our Aberdeen presence and the continued development of our extremely strong engineering team.”
Proeon’s new base in Aberdeen, is initially being headed up by business development manager Dorian Hindmarsh.
Most of Proeon’s work continues to be based on North Sea brownfield re-development projects, which have been increasing due to the many oil and gas platforms now being operated beyond their original design lives.
Proeon has provided services from design through to installation and commissioning for projects all over the world.
