Applications are now open for Aberdeenshire Sport Council’s annual awards.
The event at the Garioch Sports Centre in Inverurie on March 13 is very much a celebration of the achievements in the last 12 months of the athletes, coaches and volunteers across the region.
In the past, Olympic rower Dame Katherine Grainger and boxer Dick McTaggart have taken part in Q&A sessions on the night.
Jackie Smith, the chief executive of the council, has urged the public to submit their applications across a range of categories, including coach of the year, team of the year and the leading male and female sports person from the last 12 months.
She said: “Last year, it was terrific to report that we had more than 60 nominees with the event playing host to 280 people.
“There are often many regional, national, European and even world champions in attendance on the evening from a wide selection of sports all across the shire.
“It is always a very enjoyable and humbling evening and we are once again looking forward to the occasion.”
All nominees/clubs/teams must be residents of Aberdeenshire, or they must be a student of parents who are living in the area. Alternatively they should coach, perform or volunteer for a north-east based club or team. All sports involved in the different categories must be recognised by Sportscotland.
The deadline for applications is Friday, February 14. Visit www.livelifeaberdeenshire.org.uk/media/5251/2020-sports-council-awards-nomination-form.pdf
