A UK Government minister claims he is being forced to use freedom of information laws to find out why average-speed cameras will be installed on Scotland’s most notorious road.
Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander said he asked Holyrood Transport Minister Keith Brown six weeks ago for evidence to prove the equipment would lead to fewer accidents on A9, but has not had a response.
The Highland Liberal Democrat MP said he was now having to resort to using legislation to force government agency Transport Scotland to “come clean” with motorists who use the trunk route between Inverness and Perth.
