Eligible people are able to renew or replace cards entitling them to free public transport again after the service was suspended at the start of the pandemic.
Production of National Entitlement Cards ceased across Scotland in early April.
Those entitled to use the card, which grants access to national and local transport services, are now able to apply to have replacements or renewals made up.
Initial production will focus on those older than 60, or people who are entitled to concessionary travel because of disability.
Applications from new users will not be processed at this time.
Shetland Islands Council was yesterday among the first to confirm it will be accepting applications with those applying asked to provide the relevant supporting documentation either in electronic format or via post.
The card offers islanders free bus travel and free or discounted ferry travel within Shetland.
Bus operators are currently allowing free travel to existing cardholders who have either lost their or broken card, had it stolen, or had it expire.
This instruction will remain in place until June 30 to allow those requiring replacement or renewal cards to obtain them.
From July 1, free bus travel will only be permitted where a valid National Entitlement Card is presented.
