Ross County manager Derek Adams wants the Staggies supporters to raise the roof off Victoria Park to match Aberdeen’s 2,000 Red Army expected to head north today.
A strong backing from the County faithful can help his players, reckons Adams, who is sure his team can bounce back from last week’s 3-1 defeat by Motherwell at Fir Park.
The Red Army will create a wall of sound in the packed away end but the County manager is confident the Staggies can rise to the occasion and push up the Premiership table in the process.
He said: “If you look at the form table just now, over the last six games Aberdeen have taken eight points and we have taken seven points – it suggests the two teams are going in the same direction and that is forward.
“If we look at it from that point of view it is going to be a good game between two good teams.
“We are evenly matched and going the right way. I think there will 2,000 Aberdeen supporters here and it adds to the excitement.
“We did well against them last year and won twice and drew once.
“Aberdeen are trying to get back into the top six for the first time in four years, we will be trying to catch them on Saturday.
“It is amazing what kind of atmosphere supporters can generate to help a team.
“The Hearts supporters were terrific in our last home game and I am sure there will be another very good atmosphere on Saturday. It is really up to our own supporters to generate the same atmosphere as the away fans.”
The Dons new generation, which includes Ryan Jack, Cammy Smith and Clark Robertson among a host of talented young players, is emerging at Pittodrie but Adams is not keen to highlight the strengths of the opposition.
He added: “I am not going to comment on Aberdeen players. I would not expect them to comment on mine.
“It is another opportunity for us to try to get three points and keep on moving up the league table.”
Tickets for both home and away supporters will be on sale from the Victoria Park match day ticket office from 1pm until kick-off.
