The motor industry continues to provide a dynamic career path for many young talented people in Scotland. It’s a message which a local car dealer is delighted to communicate.
John Clark Motor Group exhibited at the Ellon Academy Careers Fair as part of its aim to support pupils approaching leaving age who are looking to make their first step towards a career.
The company met students across the region, raising awareness of the diverse level of opportunities the motor industry has to offer.
John Clark Motor Group already has a history of offering young people throughout Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire work experience and one of them is now an employee with the company on a part-time basis while completing a university degree in artificial intelligence.
Darren Coutts, 19, digital assistant at John Clark Motor Group said: “Now in my second year at university, John Clark Motor Group has provided me with a fantastic opportunity to achieve my ambitions in education while learning crucial skills on the job.
“My job involves supporting the management of the company’s website, intranet and social media with the ever-changing digital sphere. It means every day is different. In my eyes this is one of the major advantages of the job.
“More than this though, my role has allowed me to make many connections within the north-east business community as well as providing a real head start at a time when graduates are fighting for the same positions.”
Chris Clark, group business development director said: “With careers in everything from marketing to body shop repairs, our main aim is to show that the motor industry does have something to offer to everyone.
“Our dedication to the training and development of young people has already paid dividends. We have offered work experience to pupils from Ellon academy and the wider north east region, with Darren of course now an employee of the group.
“In the past the business has seen some real success stories with students who have joined the group and whether they have worked in a dealership or at head office, the group has worked with them to deliver on their career aspirations.”
