Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is hoping for better luck in avoiding squad injuries when the Scottish Premiership fixtures resume next weekend after the international break.
The Dons have been missing influential players such as Barry Robson, Willo Flood and captain Russell Anderson in recent weeks, while forward Josh Magennis is expected to be out for more than a month after a knee operation.
But McInnes has been pleased by the manner in which young players Cammy Smith and Nicky Low have impressed in their absence.
McInnes said: “It’s always better to have everyone available, or as near to it as possible. Willo Flood played part of the game against Ross County and will be fit for our next match against Dundee United. He’s a key player for us. Barry Robson is not too far away, either. Not only are they good players but they’re big personalities for us.
“However, I am always confident our young players can step in and do well. Injuries have hit us and highlighted the need for the youngsters to step up.
“We are working with tighter numbers than previously but I was confident of doing that because of the quality of the youngsters coming through.
“We had seven players who have come through the system playing in the 5-0 win against Falkirk and that gives us encouragement.
“Everyone who has worked with them in the development area deserves a pat on the back.”
