Dons midfielder Ryan Jack says Aberdeen must repay supporters for their loyalty when Dundee United visit Pittodrie on Saturday.
Jack feels that the 1,922 Dons supporters who tra- velled to Dingwall on October 5 only to see Ross County win 1-0 were let down by their team.
The defeat halted an unbeaten run which had gone to six games and Scotland under-21 international Jack has vowed to make amends when the Arabs check in this weekend.
He said: “We had incre- dible backing at Ross County. We had nearly 2,000 there and to let them down the way we did was unacceptable. All the players and the staff were disappointed with the result. We let the manager down. He did everything he could to prepare us all week to get the victory.
“Against Dundee United we need to bounce back. Hopefully, we can get the points and get the supporters back on track. We were on an excellent run until the County game. We can’t go into any game thinking we can walk over the opposition.
“We did not perform on the day. It can happen and we have to guard against it. We are looking to bounce back against Dundee United. There will be a great atmosphere and a big crowd.
“Everything should be there for us to do well. I always look forward to the games against Dundee United.”
Jack has no doubt the Dons are good enough to get back among the top six after three ninth-placed finishes.
He added: “All the players are delighted with what the manager has done since he came in. The pre-season was excellent and the standards demanded of the players in training every day makes for good competition.
“It is healthy to have competition for places. It can only be good for the club and the team. We want to give the manager something back for all the hard work he has put in and get into top-six contention.
“No one is guaranteed their place as you can lose form or get injured but we have to produce on the pitch. If we don’t someone will come in. When you look at the players who have come in, the platform is there for the club to produce this season.”
