The public are being given the chance to have their say on plans to stamp out smoking at all NHS Grampian sites.
The health board voted earlier this year to impose a ban, which will apply to staff, patients and visitors.
It hopes to have the rule in place by 2015, and is even considering asking for a bylaw which would make it illegal to light up at any of its buildings.
Now visitors are being urged to make their views on the plans known.
The policy aims to make NHS Grampian’s sites smoke-free, offer all smokers help, and ensure staff do not smoke in their uniform or work clothes.
The confidential survey will take participants between five and 10 minutes to complete.
In August, the health board voted in favour of the new tobacco policy, which is part of a Scottish Government target of making all the country’s hospitals smoke-free in two years.
Tobacco-related illnesses cause 1,000 deaths and lead to 5,000 hospital admissions in Grampian every year, and the board is hopeful the new policy will help slash the figures.
Members also believe a bylaw would make it easier to enforce the smoking ban, which would involve removing all smoking places and shelters on sites such as Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin and the Peterhead Community Hospital.
They could call on Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray councils to implement the bylaw, although it would need the approval of the Scottish Government – which has previously indicated it has no plans to legislate against smoking in hospital grounds.
