An Aberdeen care worker has been sanctioned for providing methadone to the wrong resident of a homeless hostel.
Gillian Forbes was charged with misconduct by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) following the incident on March 9 last year, while she was employed by Aberdeen Cyrenians.
The charity worker gave methadone to a resident of Margaret House in Crown Street on March 9 last year.
However, the heroin substitute had been prescribed for another resident.
An SSSC conduct committee heard evidence from Aberdeen Cyrenians, who said she had a “good history” at the organisation, and now had a full understanding of her roles and responsibilities.
The committee concluded it was “an isolated incident which was not premeditated” and that there was “no direct or indirect harm” to service users.
She was given an 18-month warning, on the condition that she undergoes training within the next year.
