The man was part of a group diving in the Sound of Mull on Saturday afternoon. Their rigid inflatable boat (Rib) was met by the Oban lifeboat, which was called out to assist at 5.43pm. The diver was transferred to the lifeboat, which was carrying a doctor specially trained to deal with diving incidents. The lifeboat returned to Oban and was met by an ambulance which transferred the patient to hospital for assessment. It is understood that the man was then taken to the re-compression chamber at the Scottish Association for Marine Science for further treatment.
