Tender submissions for the Third Don Crossing construction works have been opened.
Aberdeen City Council invited offers for the £15.5million project, which will involve the creation of a new bridge over the River Don, a new stretch of road linking it to the road network to the north, and the realignment and upgrading of roads to the south.
Officers will now consider the four proposals and are expected to recommend a preferred bidder to the finance, policy and resources committee later this month.
Council leader Jenny Laing said: “The opening of the bids marks a clear milestone in this important roads project.
“The next stage is to formally appoint a contractor, which we will do in the next few weeks to ensure construction can begin as soon as possible.”
Construction will start later this year and the new bridge is due to be open to the public by late 2015.
