We might have had some showery spells lately, but when the sun has broken through the clouds, it’s been glorious. Bit of rain and bit of sun? Sounds just like a good old Scottish summer.
A recent survey of the UK’s summer listening habits revealed a lot about how we love to groove on down at this time of year, come rain or shine.
Among the findings of the survey, carried out by First Choice to mark the 10th anniversary of its all-inclusive Holiday Villages, were the following:
- More than half of those in Aberdeen (53%), listen to music in their hotel room while on holiday
- 95% spend up to a whopping seven hours a day listening to music while abroad
- The most essential elements of a great holiday song are an upbeat melody (61%) and catchy lyrics (50%)
Over half of those from Scotland (55%) have a summer anthem from their trip
With this in mind, the Press and Journal caught up with British pop band, The Saturday’s, to find out what tunes were leading them into summer this year. Here’s what they had to say:
“We definitely associate some of our best summer memories with great tunes over the years. It was fun trying to decide on our favourite summer songs to add to the Poolside Playlist – there are so many it was actually quite hard to choose. Our top 10 would have to be:
- When Love Takes Over – David Guetta ft Kelly Rowland
- Timber – Pitbull ft. Ke$ha
- Lola’s Theme – Shape Shifters
- Look Right Through You – MK
- American Boy – Estelle ft. Kanye West
- Anything Could Happen – Ellie Goulding
- I Gotta Feeling – The Black Eyed Peas
- Mr Brightside – The Killers
- Holiday – Dizzee Rascal
- Hey Ya – Outkast
