Inverurie Locos defeated League 2 side Peterhead to set up a semi-final Aberdeenshire Shield match against Huntly at Harlaw Park.
The first chance of the game arrived for Jim Mc- Inally’s side when Ross Anderson sent a short pass back towards goalkeeper Andy Reid, who came out fast to block Fraser McLaren. The ball broke to Kevin Buchan, who chipped it on to the top of the crossbar.
The home side took the lead on 22 minutes. David Ross fed a deep ball in with Neil Gauld showing a great first touch to take the ball down before rattling his shot past former Locos goalkeeper Paul Jarvie.
The Blue Toon were level on 38 minutes, as stand-in right back Jamie Redman crossed to the back post, with Jordon Brown nodding it down for Buchan to arrive with a volley into the roof of the net.
Locos regained their lead just three minutes later though, as Martin Bavidge got down the right flank before squaring across the face of goal. Gauld was blocked off by a defender, with the ball coming straight to Neil McLean who hit a low first-time shot into the net.
Gauld doubled his tally in spectacular style seven minutes into the second half. He picked the ball up inside his own half and raced past the entire Peterhead defence before slotting past Jarvie from 15 yards.
Peterhead pulled another goal back when the ball came to Brown from a corner, and set up Redman to head past Reid.
