A YOUNG mum killed in a north-east road crash had just returned from a dream holiday to Disneyland with her daughter.
Mother-of-one Lisa Franklin died after her Vauxhall Corsa and a Ford Transit collided on the outskirts of Peterhead.
Last night, the 27-year-old’s heartbroken family paid tribute to her in a statement issued through Police Scotland.
They said the tragedy had left them feeling numb and opened up a “great void” in their lives.
The crash happened near the Asco premises, where Mrs Franklin, from Aberdeen, worked.
Her mother, Tracey Walker, from Peterhead, said her daughter had devoted her entire life to her family – particularly four-year-old daughter Khloe – and was “full of hopes and dreams”.
She said: “Lisa was a young, wonderful wife, mummy, daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece, and a friend to many.
“She was a happy, caring and bubbly person that had so many plans and dreams for the future.
“Lisa and her husband Craig fulfilled one of those dreams a couple of weeks ago, in taking their darling daughter Khloe to Disneyland in Florida.
“We are so happy that she got to do that.”
Mrs Walker added: “Lisa’s life was Craig and Khloe, spending time with her sister and brothers, and her nana – ‘nanakins’ – who she loved to take to see Manchester United games.
“The sudden, tragic loss of Lisa has left us all numb and left a great big void in our lives – one that we will never get over.”
Asco chief executive, Andrew Macdonald, had earlier described Mrs Franklin as a “much-valued member of the team”.
He said the whole workforce at the company was “deeply shocked”.
Mrs Franklin is also survived by her father Eric Walker, brothers Daniel, 24, and Shaun, 18, and sister Jodie, 19.
Wednesday’s accident happened just after 8am near Asco’s premises in Peterhead’s South Base Road. Police believe that ice on the carriageway may have been a factor in the crash.
Three construction workers who were in the van were also badly hurt, although their injuries were not life-threatening. One of the passengers was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance.
South Base Road, which runs from the McDonald’s roundabout on the A90 Peterhead-Aberdeen trunk route to Asco’s premises at the south end of Peterhead Bay, was closed for several hours.
Former Dyce Academy pupil Mrs Franklin, who was due to celebrate her birthday next week, married freight services worker Craig at Craigiebuckler Parish Church in September 2009.
The pair had met at work seven years earlier.
Speaking at the time of her wedding, she said: “We were friends before romance blossomed. One night, I had a moment of clarity and realised Craig was the one for me.”
Police have appealed to witnesses to the crash to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
