Technip has announced that four of its engineers in the UK have been awarded Member status of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) – a fast-growing professional engineering institution in the UK.
During the ceremony held in Aberdeen, the chief executive of IMechE, Stephen Tetlow, presented the following awards:
- Paul Nickson, project engineer, awarded Incorporated Engineer status
- John Walsh, project engineer, awarded Chartered Engineer status
- Euan Casey, flexible pipe design engineer, awarded Chartered Engineer status

Bill Morrice, managing director of Technip in the UK, said: “This award highlights the dedication of our engineers to their profession as well as Technip’s commitment to helping its people develop their talent.”
Commenting on his award, Euan said: “The MPDS (Monitored Professional Development Scheme) provides engineers with a clear framework against which to record and assess their experience and skills, helping to ensure individuals gain a rounded set of technical and professional competences, and a sound ethical awareness.
“I believe this will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career and I would like to thank my mentor Blair McKay, of Wood Group, for his support and encouragement.”
Niraj added: “I would like to thank Technip, my sponsors and mentors Henry Vanni and Gordon Tough, as well as Isabel Howden, our HR coordinator.”
John commented: “After four years of quarterly and yearly reports and support from my mentor Alan Smile, of Transocean, I finally achieved my goal.
“I am now pleased to be acting as a mentor for two graduate engineers in Technip who are both working towards chartered status.”
