A Highland designer who specialises in Harris Tweed has won a prestigious national fashion award.
Judy Clark was named Womenswear Designer of The Year at the Scottish Style Awards.
The new accolade comes just two years after the same awards hailed the rising star as the best new designer of 2011.
The new trophy will be added to a growing collection as the 29-year-old also won the best new designer award at the Scottish Variety Awards last year, and the Jolomo award for innovation and creativity in 2011.
Originally from Fort William, she now works in Edinburgh, creating one-off designs from Scottish textiles, particularly Harris Tweed and lace from Ayrshire mill Morton, Young and Borland (MYB Textiles).
She said: “I was absolutely thrilled to win the award. It’s a very prestigious title so I hope it will help move my business in the right direction. Things are going really well for Scottish fashion at the moment. Harris Tweed is hugely popular just now and I’m very proud to use so much of it in my work, given the unique heritage it has.”
A budding designer while a pupil at Lochaber High School, she went on to study at Heriot Watt University in Galashiels, before interning under the late Alexander McQueen.
She has created specially commissioned pieces for Alford-born Emeli Sande, Levi and a dress made out of car parts for Ford.
She has big plans for the coming year which marks the launch of her commercial range in Milan.
