McBeath takes hold of the reins at Keith

Keith have moved swiftly to replace manager Darren Still, who resigned a week ago, with former Rothes number one Graham McBeath.

McBeath, 51, who was sacked by the Speysiders at the start of the year, will be joined by his long-time assistant Derek Robertson.

The duo will not take charge for today’s Kynoch Park tussle with Strathspey Thistle, with Still’s number two Jerry O’Driscoll in the home dugout.

McBeath said: “I’m delighted to be back in the Highland League. I am grateful to Formartine United for giving me the opportunity over the last six weeks to coach their youth team players and the under-20 side.

“My first challenge at Keith will be to counter the threat of other clubs coming in to take some of our players. That is a challenge I am really looking forward to.

“I will have a chat with the coaching staff tomorrow and see who is staying and who is going.

“I would like to keep Jerry on board as he knows the Keith players a lot better than I do. He is another pair of eyes and ears in the dressing-room.

“I have already seen one or two players I am quite keen on. We will probably lose a couple as well but we will do our utmost to retain as many of them as possible. We have a good balance to the squad.”

Strathspey will travel without Gareth Smith who has a groin strain, fellow central defender Marc McKernie is a doubt with a knee knock, while David Ross and Nicky Mochan are both on holiday.

Fraserburgh and Clachnacuddin go head-to-head at Bellslea.

The Broch will look to Graham Johnston and Peter-Alexander Bruce to supply the firepower against a Lilywhites outfit which has been struggling with injuries for most of the season.

Lossiemouth have left-back Darren Bailey suspended for the visit of a Rothes side which will want to erase memories of last Saturday’s 9-0 thrashing by Cove Rangers from the memory banks.

Fort William entertain Deveronvale at Claggan Park. The Lochaber club could hand a debut to new signing, former Caley Thistle defender Matthew Murphy.

Fort forwards, Iain MacLellan, Duncan Campbell and Gordon McCarroll all miss out through work commitments, while Michael Gillespie and Sean Grant are both suspended and Darren Buchan is injured.

Vale are without forward Bob Morrice through work commitments, while Scott Fraser misses out with a groin injury.
