Barra lifeboat was called to the aid of a stricken yacht in the early hours of today.
The crew were tasked by Stornoway Coastguard to help the boat which had ropes tangled round its propeller.
The yacht, which was carrying three people, was bound for St Kilda and was near the west coast of South Uist when it ran into difficulty at around 1.45am.
A spokesman for the lifeboat crew said: “We think that it become stuck in broken lines around it’s rudder and propeller.
“They managed to clear the rudder themselves but the propeller was jammed up.
“The yacht was perfectly fine to sail but because it was such a beautiful morning there was no wind at all so they were stuck.
“It was a pretty routine call-out but it was an absolutely beautiful morning to be out on the water.”
The lifeboat crew arrived at the yacht at around 3am and towed it back to Castlebay on Barra at 6.40am.
A local diver was called to help clear the jammed propeller.
