A West Coast lifeboat was kept busy today after three yachts came into trouble in the region.
The first vessel, the Braw Lass, became stuck in a rocky area at Cuan Sound, just south of Oban, at around 1.30pm, prompting a response from Oban lifeboat.
A Stornoway Coastguard spokesman said: “What happened was the lifeboat had to wait for higher tide for her to re-float, and towed them into safe waters.”
They were helped by another yacht, the Tango, and had the Braw Lass out of trouble by 3.30pm.
The spokesman added: “No damage was sustained to the vessel.”
There were two people aboard the 10m yacht, but none were injured during the incident.
Later on in the day an 8.5m yacht, the Speedwell, experienced engine failure at Duart point, south-east of the Isle of Mull.
Oban lifeboat was called at 3.40pm, towing them to safety at the town’s harbour.
The incident also involved two people, none of whom were hurt.
Oban lifeboat were also notified of a third incident, but did not have to attend.
Sailing yacht, the Hullaballoo, experienced engine failure between the Isle of Muck and Ardnamurchan Point, north of the Isle of Mull.
A nearby yacht, the Eynhallow, is currently towing the vessel to Tobermory.
Stornoway Coastguard were made aware of the incident at 3.41pm.
A coastguard spokesman said: “They are not due into Tobermory until 10.30pm.”
He added that the amount of call-outs is partly due to the fact that there was “no wind at all” for the yachts to take advantage of on the West Coast.
