The Scottish Liberal Democrats have launched the final leg of a grassroots campaign for more powers for Scotland within the UK.
With 50 days until the independence referendum, party leader Willie Rennie announced he will be taking part in a series of community events the length and breadth of the country.
Over the past few months Lib Dem politicians have been involved in local “road to referendum events” as part of a wider initiative to make the case for a stronger Scotland through their plans for home rule within a federal UK.
The next stage of the campaign will see Mr Rennie take part in meetings from Caithness down through the north-east to the Borders.
Speaking at a event in East Dunbartonshire, he declared: “Liberal Democrats are the party of a stronger Scotland.”
He added: “With 50 campaign days until the important vote we will loudly make our case for Scotland to have the best of both worlds. We can be proud to have a strong Scottish parliament, with more powers on the way, backed up by the strength, security and stability of the UK.
“That is the sunshine, positive and Liberal case for building a stronger Scotland within the UK.
“This positive message is in stark contrast with the nationalists who, instead of addressing the many questions over their plans for currency or EU membership, are resorting to negative scare stories.”
