Shetland Coastguard sent helicopter Rescue-102 to the diving support vessel, the Bibby Polaris, at around 1.30pm. They arrived at the vessel, located around 80 miles west-north-west of Sumburgh, at 3.30pm. The man, said to be 30-years-old, is thought to suffer from an on-going medical condition. A Shetland Coastguard spokeswoman said: “They were tasked to airlift an ill crewman from there. They came back to Lerwick at 4.10pm. “They were met by the Lerwick coastguard rescue team and the Scottish Ambulance Service.” The man was then taken to Shetland’s Gilbert-Bain Hospital. An ambulance spokeswoman said: “We got the call at 3.50pm and we took him into accident and emergency”.
