An international expert on minority languages will give a lecture at Skye’s Gaelic college next week.
Rita Izsak, from Hungary, is the special rapporteur for the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.
She will give the Sabhal Mor Ostaig UHI lecture in the television studio at the FÃ s building at on Monday at 3.30pm.
College principal, Professor Boyd Robertson, said: “We are indeed honoured and delighted that Rita Izsak, independent expert on minority issues for the Human Rights Council, has agreed to come to Scotland to deliver this year’s lecture.
“As an international consultant to the United Nations, she travels extensively to theatres of conflict such as Ukraine and Nigeria and has gained an extensive overview of the issues facing minorities and minority languages throughout the world.
“We look forward eagerly to hearing her insights into the minority condition and the challenges confronting minority languages such as Gaelic.”
