Two men were taken to hospital in Stornoway after an accident at the port’s harbour.
Paramedics and two fire appliances were called to No 3 pier at around 7.50am after reports of people trapped under machinery.
Two fire crews from Stornoway were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived workers at the terminal had already released their colleagues.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said the two men were taken to the Western Isles Hospital.
One is understood to have suffered a broken leg, while the other was described as “walking wounded”.
It is understood that construction work is taking place at the site.
The police are also carrying out investigations into the incident and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been informed.
A police spokesman said: “At approximately 7.50am police received a report of an industrial accident at No 3 pier in Stornoway.
“Emergency services attended the scene of the incident and two men were taken to Western Isles Hospital where they received treatment for suspected limb injuries.
“The Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the accident.”
