Yacht runs aground off the coast of Mull

A coastguard rescue team have been sent out to assist a yacht which has run aground off the coast of Mull.

The yacht with two people on board went aground near Salen, on the east coast of the Isle of Mull at around 1.15am.

A coastguard rescue team from Craignure were sent to help them get afloat in the water again.

No lifeboats have been deployed to assist the yacht.

A Stornoway coastguard spokesman said: “We have got a yacht aground in the Isle of Mull.

“The people are safe and sound and we are just waiting for the tide to go out.”
