Police have confirmed that a woman’s body found on a Skye beach was that of a missing woman from the island.
Margaret Pratt, 52, of Portree, was reported missing from her home on Saturday.
A major search involving police, lifeboats, a helicopter and the coastguard was launched.
Portree and Stornoway lifeboats and Dunvegan and Portree coastguard teams searched the coastline, while Stornoway Coastguard’s search and rescue helicopter scoured the north-west of Skye.
Her body was found on Sunday evening, by the Lub Score shingle beach, near Kilmuir, on the Trotternish Peninsula.
A police spokesman said yesterday: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a woman discovered at around 18.15 hours on Sunday August 17 close to Hungladder, Isle of Skye, is that of Margaret Pratt, aged 52, from Portree.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
