A road collision involving two cars has closed one of the north’s busiest roads in Nairn.
The A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road has been closed at the Tradespark area of Nairn since around 7.40am.
One casualty has been taken to Raigmore Hospital after being cut free from her car by firefighters.
Another two people were involved in the accident which has blocked the road in both directions.
Local directions are in place but a police spokesman has said that the road may remain closed for “some considerable time”.
Assistance has been sought from recovery services to remove the damaged cars, as well as staff from trunk road managers Bear Scotland who will assess damage to the road.
