Our family of nations has been forged through good times and bad with a history that stretches back over 300 years.
We’ve stood together against tyranny and have shaped the modern world in so many ways.
Look around you – from the technology that keeps us connected, to the medicines that keep our families healthy, Scots have achieved so much.
Far from being held back by the Union, we have always been at the cultural and entrepreneurial heart of it.
We have shaped it. It’s our United Kingdom as much as anyone else’s.
Our common bonds within the UK have kept us secure and stronger in the past – and they will continue to do so in the future.
After the shock of the great financial crash of 2008, our economy is getting back on track.
The UK has the strongest economic recovery anywhere in the developed world, and it is creating jobs across the north of Scotland.
The modern UK offers Scotland strength and stability, people of different cultures, identities and backgrounds working together for common cause.
Can we do more? Of course we can. That is what a “No Thanks” vote tomorrow will deliver.
A No vote is the quickest, safest and most secure way to deliver the powers that Scots want.
More tax-raising powers, greater control over welfare, certainty over spending – a new settlement for a Scotland that is leading the debate into a new federal vision of the United Kingdom.
And as a proud Highlander, I don’t want devolution to stop at Edinburgh. The nationalist instinct is to centralise, to control, even if this in clear opposition to the wishes of local communities. Look at their track record of it in government.
They have consistently stripped powers away from local communities and hoarded it to the centre. They are nationalist by name, centralising by nature.
In the Highlands we have seen the imposition of average-speed cameras on the A9 against the wishes of local people, the closing of regional emergency control centres and the routine deployment of armed police on our streets under the newly-centralised police structure.
We have seen Highlands and Islands Enterprise without the freedom to make its own choices for our economy.
I want the new settlement for Scotland after a No vote to include a return of power to the Highlands from Edinburgh, and further powers handed back to every community in Scotland.
By voting No tomorrow our country will get a stronger parliament, but without losing the security afforded by being a member of the most successful and enduring family of nations the world has ever known.
This is the future I want for Scotland.
I believe that the facts are overwhelmingly on the side of a “No Thanks” vote.
Staying part of the United Kingdom is better for jobs, the economy, pensions and the cost of living.
History shows that people prosper where there are fewer barriers, not more. It shows that challenges are easier to overcome if we work together, rather than go our separate ways.
The best way to an even stronger and more secure Scotland in the future is to vote No. By doing so, our journey to a new stronger Scotland within the security of the UK can begin.
