First Minister Alex Salmond has conceded defeat after the people of Scotland voted against independence.
In a speech in Edinburgh this morning, he paid tribute to more than 1.6million people so far who said Yes.
But he acknowledged that “there is going to be a majority” for the No campaign.
Mr Salmond said: “I accept the verdict of the people, and I call on all of Scotland to follow suit and accept the democratic verdict of the people of Scotland.”
The Aberdeenshire East MSP said he will speak to Prime Minister David Cameron and stage a press conference after the results are finalised later today.
