New parking arrangements have been put in place at Sumburgh Airport to cope with traffic during school holidays.
An overspill car park and a new filter system will be put in place in the next week for long-stay motorists.
Passenger numbers at the Shetland Airport have been hitting record highs this year, bringing extra traffic to the area.
Operators Highlands and Islands Airports Limited are projecting high demand during October’s school holidays and have introduced new measures to help the airport cope.
A new overspill car park close to the terminal building will be in place between October 8-13.
Between these dates, all motorists will be channelled into the pick-up/drop-off area on arrival. Drivers will be informed where to park, depending on their length of stay.
A shuttle bus will transfer passengers from the overspill parking area to the terminal building.
Disabled parking remains available close to the terminal.
The airport’s operators are urging passengers to arrive at the airport in good time in order to accommodate the additional parking and busy check-in requirements.
