John Tough, 74, went missing from the Portree area at around 10am on Thursday morning, and was last seen walking his black labrador on a lead. His disappearance sparked a rescue effort involving a police helicopter from Glasgow, the Portree lifeboat and police search and rescue dogs. Three coastguard rescue teams from Portree, Dunvegan and Broadford were also involved in the search, which was called off at 11pm. Mr Tough, who is known as Jim, is described as being 6ft tall, clean shaven, with black hair around the sides and bald on top. When he was last seen he was wearing a beige jacket, black trousers and black shoes. The labrador looks young and is believed to be about three- or four-years-old. The search was focused around the Portree area. Anyone who has seen Mr Tough or has knowledge of his whereabouts is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
