The Argyll town of Dunoon is celebrating after landing the Royal National Mod for 2018.
Almost immediately planning will start and continue for four years to make the event a great success.
Next year the prestigious week long festival returns to Oban, then Stornoway in 2016 and Fort William in 2017 will take their turns.
Dunoon has a long association with the Mod having been the venue on seven occasions between 1930 and 2012.
Alasdair McCuish, of the Dunoon Mod committee, said: “We are delighted that the Mod is coming back in 2018. We have staged it four times in the past 20 years and I think have the hang of it now.”
And he joked that it would be great if major Mod sponsor the ferry company CalMac could arrange a new ferry for the town by 2018.
