It’s a trip no one looks forward to – and when motorists face further delays on the road, it’s a start to the day that no one wanted.
This morning was particularly bad for drivers in Aberdeenshire following two separate accidents on the A90 – a road that is congested enough on a good day!
Motorists in Aberdeen also faced heavy congestion following an accident at Forrit Brae, Bucksburn.
A driver had an incredibly lucky escape when his green Ford Fiesta flipped onto its roof on the busy country road.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene just before 8am – but thankfully he sustained no serious injuries.
The road was cleared by around 9am, however the knock-on effect for people travelling into the city was already felt.
Traffic also came to a standstill for more than an hour after a two vehicle accident on the A90 just north of Stonehaven.
The northbound carriageway leading into Aberdeen barely moved while police tried to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
Another accident on the northbound carriageway – between Garron Point and Newtonhill – caused even further delays. Thankfully, no one was injured in either accident.
In the Highlands, motorists travelling on the A938 Blackmount-Carrbridge road were effected after a Fiat van ended up on its side.
The driver was out of the vehicle by the time emergency services arrived and did not sustain any serious injuries.
The busy road, which leads to the A9 Inverness-Perth, was closed in both directions for around an hour, forcing many commuters to use an alternative route.
Further south, a driver suffered life threatening injuries following a collision between a car and a lorry on the A9 at Ballinluig.
Police are still at the scene and diversions are in place.
