Good morning – Friday is here at last, however the weather hasn’t got into the weekend spirit just yet.
There is an incredible amount of surface water on the roads in the north-east and Moray at the moment, and police have urged motorists to take extra care this morning as they travel to work.
A flood alert has been issued for Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Findhorn, Nairn, Moray and Speyside by SEPA, while the Met Office has issued an Amber – “be prepared” – wet weather warning for Grampian. The warning is expected to be lifted by 6pm tonight.

A number of ferries leaving Aberdeen have also been postponed due to high winds. Arrivals into Kirkwall (Hatston Pier) may be delayed by up to two hours and there should also be delays arriving into Lerwick.

Thankfully, there are no extra hold-ups to report on the roads at the moment. An earlier accident on the A90 at Laurencekirk has been cleared.
Riverside Drive in Aberdeen remains closed between Queen Elizabeth Bridge and Polmuir Road while engineers replace a faulty gas main.
In Aberdeenshire, Shore Street in Macduff is still shut due to the earlier fire at the old Highland Haven hotel.
