Subsea Controls Specialist firm, Raisepower, launched a new Training School recently for Subsea BOP Controls. The school, which will train engineers and technicians from around the world, boasts real subsea equipment and is the first of its kind in the UK.
The training provided will improve on operational safety offshore and efficiency for oil companies by training engineers on all aspects of Subsea BOP Controls, including troubleshooting, disassembly, inspection and safety.
Director of Raisepower, Mike Smith, said: “We are very excited about our unique new training centre. It will be a great opportunity to pass on our knowledge to the next generation and having real equipment on site will provide an invaluable ‘hands-on’ experience for trainees.”
Mike, along with his brother, Colin Smith, set up Raisepower five years ago and the company has enjoyed exponential growth since.
Raisepower specialises in refurbishing, building and testing Subsea BOP Control Systems and is an AXON approved repair centre for Type 80 products.
This latest development has been driven by the company’s clients and complements their existing services.
Mike said: “The idea of launching a training centre for BOP Subsea Controls really came from our clients. We were receiving more and more enquiries for training and after investigating it further we recognised that our clients were struggling to provide the correct in-depth training for their up and coming engineers.
“Having a safe and competent workforce is critical in the oil and gas industry and being able to demonstrate competence is an expectation through Quality Assurance Systems and regulatory bodies around the world.”
