At 11am the nation descended into a two-minute silence today as it honoured those who gave their lives for their country.

Ceremonies have taken pace all over the UK with several towns and cites gathering to remember the fallen.

Iconic buildings have also been illuminated in red as a mark of respect to our fallen heroes.
