Caley Thistle defender Graeme Shinnie claims the absence of a manager from Caledonian Stadium has had no effect on the squad.
Shinnie and his team-mates have been working without a manager for two weeks, but the full back, who deputised as captain in the absence of the suspended Richie Foran in Saturday’s 4-0 Scottish Cup win against Greenock Morton, insists the atmosphere at the club remains vibrant.
He said: “We’re in a good position and there is no reason to let the search for a new manager get to us.
“If it had been the other way and the manager had been sacked it would be different, but we were playing well before Terry and Maurice left and we haven’t had to change much at all.”
Caley Jags’ reward for beating Ton is a fifth round trip to either Clyde or Stranraer on the weekend of February 8 and 9.
Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron hopes to announce Butcher’s successor this week but Shinnie claims the players at the club remain relaxed despite the lengthy recruitment process.
He said: “Duncan Shearer and Scott Kellacher have come in and worked well with Richie Foran.
“It would be good to see it happen this week, but the way we are going just now it’s not needed.
“It’s nice to have someone in charge and for everything to be settled, but the way it’s going we don’t need one.”
Caley Jags made it three wins from three games without Butcher in the dugout and have yet to concede a goal since their former manager left the club for Hibernian, but Shinnie knows his side must do better after toiling in the first half against Morton on Saturday.
Inverness scored four goals without reply against their Championship opponents with the 30-minute delay at half-time due to a power failure which affected the Highland capital having no discernible effect on the home side.
But the players know they let their standards drop.
Shinnie said: “We were sloppy in the first half.
“We didn’t move the ball as quickly as we wanted to and some passes went astray. There were other issues as well which were of our own making.
“We were delighted to be 1-0 up at half-time in the circumstances and it was pleasing to see us put a few things right in the second half to ensure we can look forward to the next round.
“We’re on a good run and confidence is high after winning multiple games, but we’re taking it one match at a time.”
