A Moray man has been jailed for 22 months for taking photographs of himself abusing a young girl.
The depraved pictures were discovered at the home of Adrian Wyllie.
The 56-year-old only admitted taking them after a distinctive piece of material, which featured in the images, was found during a search of his house.
Although Wyllie’s face did not appear, police forensic officers confirmed that a hand that appeared in the image belonged to him.
In addition, the camera used to take the photographs was also traced back to Wyllie – of 2 High Street, Lossiemouth – even though he had sold it.
The police had originally raided Wyllie’s home on July 26 last year after online searches for child pornography were traced to a computer registered at his address.
A laptop and eight computer disks were among property taken away for examination.
When police asked Wyllie what they would find, he said: “All sorts, literally all sorts, children, everything.”
He was arrested after an extensive examination revealed the items contained more than 1,600 indecent images of children, some as young as three, he had downloaded from the internet.
On October 17 Wyllie admitted two charges – the first to molesting the girl and the second to possessing the indecent images.
The court proceedings against him had been adjourned until yesterday for a psychological report.
Yesterday, his solicitor Stephen Carty said the two months Wyllie had already spent in prison had been a “horrendous experience” for him.
Referring to Wyllie’s offence against the young girl, Sheriff Susan Raeburn said: “In light of the serious nature of that charge and your attempts to minimise the nature and effects of your offending, I consider the only appropriate sentence is one of imprisonment.”
She jailed him for 22 months for that offence and for one year for the images. Both to run concurrently.
